True 180 Personal Training for Women

The Ballantyne area’s True 180 Personal Training for Women stands out as a haven for women seeking personalized fitness solutions. Founded and run by dynamic duo Natillie and Josef Brandenburg, this unique studio isn’t just another gym – it’s a community where women of all ages, from their 30s to their 80s, can find empowerment, strength and well-being.
The Beginnings
Natillie, a Gastonia native, and Josef, originally from Washington, DC, brought their passion for fitness and community to Charlotte in 2016. After running a successful 5,000-square-foot facility in Georgetown, they relocated to Ballantyne, drawn by its family-friendly environment and vibrant community. Since then, their focus has been on creating a studio that combines their years of expertise with a personalized approach to fitness.
Josef’s journey into personal training began over 25 years ago, inspired by his own transformation from an overweight youth to a strong, healthy individual. His commitment to helping others achieve similar results has been the cornerstone of his career. Together, Natillie and Josef crafted True 180 into a space that prioritizes quality, care and a bespoke approach to fitness.
What Sets True 180 Apart
Unlike big-box gyms or franchises, True 180 operates with complete independence, allowing Josef and his team to tailor every aspect of their programs. The studio offers individualized personal training programs, combining strength training, cardiovascular conditioning and more. Both Josef and their head coach, Gregory Clifton, bring decades of experience and multiple certifications to the table, a rarity in an industry where most trainers have short careers.
The studio’s dedication to providing top-notch, customized care is evident. They serve women at various stages of life; the average age is 52. Their philosophy is simple: fitness should be personal, effective and adaptable to each client’s unique needs.
A Community Connection
True 180 has become a pillar of the Ballantyne community. From being voted the Best Fitness Center | Gym in Charlotte by the Charlotte Observer in 2024 to participating in events like the Tunnel to Towers stair climb, the Brandenburg family is deeply woven into the fabric of their neighborhood. Josef and their eldest daughter, Nora (11), even completed the Charlotte Half Marathon together for the second year in a row, exemplifying the values they promote.
