Two Dogs, One Household: Chaos, Love, and Plenty of Treats

Pets: Ricardo (male) - Havanese and Marley (male)- Miniaussiedoodle
Humans: Keith and Tracey
Greetings, humans! My name is Ricardo, and I am the wise and worldly Havanese who runs this household. My sidekick (or, more accurately, my overly enthusiastic understudy) is Marley, a young and energetic Miniaussiedoodle. Together, we oversee the lives of our humans, Keith and Tracey, ensuring they are well-trained and properly entertained.
The Origins of Our Legendary Names
Unlike some dogs who get named after random human relatives or whatever pops into their humans’ heads, our names were chosen with great thought. As a proud Havanese, my Cuban heritage demanded a name of distinction—thus, Ricardo, inspired by none other than Ricky Ricardo himself. Marley, on the other paw, came into our lives looking like a full-fledged Rastaman, earning him the legendary name of Bob Marley. If only he had the chill attitude to match!
Special Skills & Unusual Talents
Marley has taken it upon himself to be the official neighborhood lookout. Every day, he dramatically pushes open the plantation shutters, sticks his fluffy head between the slats, and monitors all suspicious activity, from passing mail trucks to rogue squirrels. Meanwhile, I contribute to the household by offering my operatic talents—but only if Keith provokes me with the right encouragement. We both share a deep passion for golf cart rides. If the carport door is left open, you will find us parked in the cart, waiting for our chauffeur to take us on our daily adventure.
A Grooming Ritual Like No Other
Let’s talk about Marley’s, uh… unique contribution to the family. Every morning and every night, like clockwork, he has appointed himself Keith’s personal beautician. He meticulously licks the back of Keith’s ears and hair, perhaps in an attempt to stimulate hair regrowth. We’ll let Keith be the judge of its effectiveness, but for now, Marley remains dedicated to his craft.
A Life of Luxury (and Strategic Revenge)
There’s spoiled, and then there’s our level of spoiled. Each morning and night, we receive treats in bed. Yes, you heard that correctly—IN BED. This is our standard, and we do not accept deviations from it. However, if Keith and Tracey dare leave us alone too long, we have our ways of expressing our displeasure. Let’s just say that a few well-placed “presents” around the house ensure they think twice before abandoning us again.
Marley, the Herding Enthusiast
Marley takes his Miniaussiedoodle roots very seriously, meaning he believes it is his personal duty to herd all family members. When Tracey gets home, he cannot contain his excitement. He circles her, jumps up, and occasionally delivers a strategic butt-nip to make sure she stays in formation. It’s an unconventional greeting, but hey, we all have our quirks.
A House Full of Love (and Noise)
Beyond his questionable grooming habits and obsession with surveillance, Marley is incredibly vocal. He doesn’t just bark—he produces a full range of sounds to make sure he gets attention. Whether it’s through his singing, his watchful guarding, or his enthusiastic herding, one thing is certain—Marley and I keep this household lively. But at the end of the day, the best part of it all is the unconditional love we bring to Keith and Tracey.
Life is good, my friends. Stay pawsome!
