The Reynolds Family
This month, we're excited to introduce the Reynolds family! With roots stretching from Texas to Louisiana, the Reynolds family brings an infectious energy to the neighborhood that’s hard to miss.
Cody and Jill Reynolds, along with their three kids—Lyla (13), Lucy (11), and Logan (11)—are a tight-knit crew that loves being together, especially outdoors. Whether it’s hanging out with friends, camping, traveling, or catching a local sports event, the Reynolds family is always on the go. In their downtime, you’ll often find them at the ballparks cheering on the twins, Lucy and Logan, who are passionate about sports.
Where They’re From
Jill is from Chalmette, LA, and Cody is from Wichita Falls, TX. Before settling here in Sugar Mill Pond, they lived in Conroe, TX, and before that, in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Cody’s career as a Railroad Superintendent is what brought them to the area, and Jill works as a nurse in Labor and Delivery in New Iberia. Despite their busy schedules, they always find time for family and community.
Meet the Pets
The Reynolds' home is full of personality, thanks to their pets! Cali, their 6-year-old Great Dane, is a gentle giant—except for her tail—and loves a good tennis ball chase. Stanlee, their laid-back Terrier mix, is a “surfer dude” who enjoys his stuffies and walks with the girls. Daisy May, Lyla’s tiny but vocal Chihuahua mix, takes her guard dog duties seriously. Their rescue cats, Millie and Mittens, think they run the house and only want attention on their terms!
Hobbies and Family Time
When it comes to family activities, the Reynolds love anything outdoors. The kids recently discovered a shared love for fishing, and you can often find them casting lines at the neighborhood pond. Lucy is heavily involved in gymnastics, softball, and soccer. She even has an exciting trip to Barcelona, Spain coming up in February to train with the world-renowned Futbol Club of Barcelona! Logan enjoys baseball, soccer, and spending time with his friends—and his PlayStation. Lyla, the oldest, has a love for horseback riding, baking, and babysitting. She can often be found hanging out with the SMP water aerobics class and is also known as one of the neighborhood’s go-to babysitters!
As for the parents, Cody is a bourbon enthusiast and loves hanging out with his bourbon buddies whenever he gets the chance. Jill used to enjoy making elaborate cakes, though her busy schedule has kept her from the hobby recently. But family time is always top priority, whether it's enjoying local concerts or sports games or simply hanging out together.
Favorite Sports Teams
When it comes to sports, the Reynolds household is proudly divided! Jill and Lucy are die-hard LSU Tigers fans, while Cody and Lyla show their allegiance to the Texas Longhorns. It's always an exciting time during college football season with this friendly rivalry playing out at home. Logan, meanwhile, shares his dad’s love for the Houston Astros, and they never miss a game.
One team the entire family can agree on, though, is the Savannah Bananas! They were lucky enough to attend three games this past year—one in Baton Rouge and two in Savannah, GA. And of course, any team that Lucy and Logan are playing for takes the top spot in their hearts. Whether it’s cheering from the stands or playing in the game, sports are a big part of life for the Reynolds family!
Favorite Local Spots
With such busy lives, the Reynolds family eats out a good bit, and they’ve found some favorite local spots. KK's and Villagers top their list of go-to eateries, and Jill and the girls love stopping by Salad Station when they can. When Cody gets the time, he’s great at BBQ’ing, which the family loves, too!
Travel and Adventure
The Reynolds are big fans of adventure and love exploring new places. They used to be big into camping, especially at Texas state parks. They also have a special place in their hearts for Gatlinburg, TN, and they’ll happily take any beach trip they can get. Cody, on the other hand, has a special fondness for Kentucky, which, if it were up to him, would be their only vacation spot!
Family Traditions
One thing the Reynolds family treasures is their unique birthday tradition. On each child’s birthday, they get to skip school and enjoy a day full of their chosen activities—topped off with a special donut cake. Jill firmly believes that every birthday is a gift and should be celebrated to the fullest!
What They Love About Sugar Mill Pond
Since moving here, the Reynolds family has fallen in love with the community. “We love the setup of the neighborhood,” Jill says. “Everything is literally right around the corner, and everyone is so friendly and inviting.” The local events, like Sugar Jam, have quickly become some of their favorite ways to spend time together.
As you can see, the Reynolds family is all about making memories, enjoying the little moments, and staying connected with their community. If you see them around the neighborhood—whether at a sports game, a local concert, or fishing at the pond—be sure to say hello!
