Meet the Nogles: A Story of Family, Adventure, and Wine

Lonnie and Debi Nogle moved to Sugar Mill Pond to embrace the neighborhood’s beauty, camaraderie, and strong sense of community, and they couldn’t feel more at home.

A Love Story That Took Flight
Our love story began in 1992 when a friend invited me and my two daughters to a family barbecue. Little did I know, her husband had invited his aviation instructor friend from out of town, Lonnie. I warned her that if this was a setup, it wasn’t going to work—but as it turned out, it worked perfectly! That aviation friend became my husband, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Careers and Passions
Lonnie and I both bring diverse life experiences to the table. Lonnie, originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, is an Army veteran and a Vietnam helicopter pilot. His career teaching aviation maintenance took him all over the world. I, on the other hand, grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, and have worn many hats throughout my career, from Trust Tax Manager for a national bank to managing international steamship companies. These days, though, our favorite roles are as Wine Consultants with Wine Shop at Home. Hosting wine tastings allows us to connect with wonderful people, share exceptional wines, and create memories—it's truly a job we adore.

Family & Traditions
Family is our greatest joy. Our three daughters, Laurie (married to Jay), Christy (married to Josh), and Missy (married to Adam), fill our lives with love, laughter, and endless memories. We cherish every opportunity to travel and make unforgettable memories with them and our wonderful grandkids, whether it’s gathering for family traditions, exploring new destinations, or simply enjoying time together. No matter how far apart we may live, we always make it a priority to stay connected and celebrate the moments that matter most.

Traditions are big in our family. Every New Year’s Eve, we call each other at midnight Eastern Time to say, “Happy East Coast New Year!” On Good Friday, we bake and enjoy hot cross buns, a tradition passed down through the years. The holidays often find us renting cabins in scenic destinations for family reunions, where we laugh, record funny videos, and create memories to treasure forever.

Exploring the World Together
Our passion for travel keeps us on the go. Last December, we celebrated our 30th anniversary in Germany followed by a cruise. Next year, we’re excited to embark on a river cruise that begins in Paris and ends in the Swiss Alps. Our favorite destinations include Italy, Germany, and anywhere we can bring our grandkids along for the adventure.

Local Favorites and Home-Cooked Comforts
Closer to home, we enjoy frequenting local spots like Kasai, El Paso Youngsville, Park Bistro, Whiskey & Vine, and Café Bella. At home, we love cooking Italian and Mexican dishes or steaming crabs—a nod to my East Coast roots. To relax, we’re often on our back patio with a glass of wine, enjoying the serene beauty of Sugar Mill Pond.

Community Involvement
Community involvement has always been important to us. Lonnie is a proud member of the VFW, and I’ve served on the board for the American Cancer Society’s Black & White Gala. I also enjoy hosting game nights with ladies' groups in town. We love how this neighborhood brings people together for events and activities, and we hope to meet more of you this year!

Raising a Glass to Friendship
We’re excited to host wine-tasting events for our neighbors—an experience we promise is as fun as it is informative. These gatherings are a wonderful way to learn about wines, discover new favorites, and connect with friends and neighbors.

Thank you for welcoming us into this incredible community. Sugar Mill Pond has truly become our happy place, and we look forward to many more adventures, laughs, and glasses of wine with all of you!

Cheers,
Debi & Lonnie Nogle
