11 Day Power Play!
Hockey with a Cause
Lots of action from this view near the bench!
What is the 11 Day Power Play and why am I so passionate about it?? Let me give you a little background on myself and why this cause is so close to my heart. My name is Devin Schobert and I am a 15-year-old Freshman at Lancaster High School. We moved to Summerfield Farms in 2018 and I can tell you it was one of the best decisions my parents ever made. I love our neighborhood; all my friends and I absolutely love playing JV Hockey and Varsity Golf. I am always in my backyard chipping golf balls or in my garage hitting pucks into the net. Hockey has always been my sport thanks to my dad who taught me everything I know. What I never realized is that the one sport I truly love would help so many people down the road.
This year will be my 3rd straight year playing in the 11 Day Power Play. My Dad started a team in 2018 called the Greenfield Grinders. Greenfield Continuing Care in Lancaster, NY sponsors our team every year. My mom is the Administrator at Greenfield and I’m honored that they support our team and this great organization. We have raised over $85,000 for Cancer Research at Roswell Park, as well as funds to support Camp Good Days and Make A Wish (my dad wants to raise $15,000 so we can hit our $100,000 goal this year). The 11 Day Power Play is an 11 Day Charity Hockey event in which each team plays a 3-hour shift, and each player plays for someone who either has cancer or unfortunately has passed away from cancer. For the last 3 years, I have played for a beautiful soul…Mya Culley, Mya is an 8-year-old girl who has been battling Leukemia. Mya’s mom Tanya works with my mom at Greenfields so we’ve been a part of this battle and will continue to do so until she rings the bell at Roswell.
My Dad and I are very passionate about the 11 Day Power Play and are always looking for new players. If you are interested in playing please email my Dad at mschobert@ymail.com. In addition, if you would like to donate to my page, the link is listed here: http://communityshift.11daypowerplay.com/DevinSchobert.
Any dollar raised is truly appreciated and will help so many in our community. The game will be held on Monday, June 26 from 3 pm to 6 pm. If you have any time and want to stop into the Harbor Center you can see the impact your donation has on the event (spectators are always welcome)!!
Thank you again for your support of this amazing cause…money can be raised up until the minute before I take the ice and the more I do, the more support I provide our amazing team.
At press time Devin was at $1,725, so he is raising the bar from his original goal of $2000 to $3000!!
