Bryce Burt's Athletic Odyssey
A Journey Across Multiple Sports from Gymnastics to Football and Boxing
Bryce Burt's athletic journey is nothing short of impressive. Starting gymnastics at the tender age of three, he rapidly progressed through the ranks, achieving remarkable success. By the time he reached level 9, Bryce was a state champion in the all-around category and secured first place in state competitions on rings and pommel horse. His exceptional skills and dedication set him on the path to potentially reaching level 10, but the rigors of the sport eventually led him to explore new athletic ventures.
Today, Bryce is making his mark as a coach at Gold Cup Gymnastics, where he is notably the youngest official gymnastics coach. His transition from gymnast to coach underscores not only his love for the sport but also his commitment to nurturing the next generation of gymnasts. His deep understanding of gymnastics allows him to demonstrate techniques and inspire young athletes with his expertise.
Currently, Bryce is balancing his time between football, boxing, and coaching. He is in his second year playing football for Hope Christian High School, where he spends about 2.5 hours practicing at the football field. Football has provided Bryce with an invaluable opportunity to integrate his faith with his athletic pursuits. Despite his diverse interests, Bryce has continued to train as a boxer at Duke City Boxing and Republiq Gym. His dedication to boxing is evident through his admiration for his boxing coach, Josh Streacker, and fellow boxer Leonid "Baby Drago" Grachev, who has been a significant influence in his boxing career. Grachev's achievements, including being a 2020 Olympic alternate and a recipient of numerous boxing awards, serve as a source of inspiration for Bryce.
In addition to his training, Bryce had the chance to meet notable figures in both football and boxing. A memorable moment in his life was meeting Archie Manning in New Orleans, which further fueled his admiration for the Manning family, particularly Peyton Manning. This encounter is a testament to Bryce’s commitment to his sports, and his ability to connect with influential figures in his life.
Reflecting on his experiences, Bryce values the sense of teamwork and camaraderie that football has provided him. He enjoys the opportunity to spend time with friends and excel in a sport he loves. His journey through gymnastics has instilled in him a strong foundation for success in other sports, demonstrating the versatility and resilience that he brings to his athletic endeavors.
Looking ahead, Bryce plans to attend college with aspirations of becoming an athletic director or coach. His experiences across multiple sports have equipped him with a wealth of knowledge and a profound understanding of teamwork and dedication. To those interested in pursuing a similar path, Bryce advises, "Be prepared to study plays/routes and work hard." His journey from a young gymnast to a multifaceted athlete and coach is a testament to his unwavering dedication and passion for sports.
