A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Tartan Fields Community

Remembering Bogey

To: Stroll Tartan Fields Staff

We have lived in Highland Village within Tartan Fields since 2011. We had a dog named Bogey and were frequently seen walking him throughout the neighborhood each day.  Bogey was 16 and a half years old and slowing down, and we knew our time with him was limited.

Bogey “crossed over the rainbow bridge” in July in a very difficult way.  Uncharacteristically, he began to bark and run in circles and seemed very distressed.  Bogey bolted out a door, barking, running out into the golf course.  We chased after him but lost him on the course.  This led to two days of searching for him.  We eventually found him, and sadly, he had drowned in a pond on the course.

We are devastated to lose our Bogey in this way, but the sad situation highlighted what a special community we live in.  We were completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support as we looked for Bogey.  The Tartan Field Golf Club staff were absolutely amazing! They handed out flyers at the starter area, and several team members were out looking for Bogey. They even left water bowls out for him on the course. They also allowed us to use golf carts as we frantically searched.  Our family and friends throughout the neighborhood were out looking for Bogey with us as we walked the course late at night and early in the morning.  During the day, family and friends would walk and drive through the neighborhood in hopes of finding Bogey golfers on the course. They were also understanding and empathetic and kept their eyes open for Bogey.  The Jerome Township Fire Department team members were professional and helpful.

Although we did not get the outcome we had hoped for, we want to thank the Tartan Fields Golf Club staff, our Highland Village and Tartan Field neighbors, and our family and friends who helped and supported us through this difficult situation.  We appreciate living in such a wonderful community and were very moved by all the supportive words and acts of kindness. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Phil and Anne (King) Georgenson
