Christmas at the Barn

A Holiday Tradition of Giving

This past Sunday, December 15, 2024, the Happy Hooves Therapeutic Equestrian Center hosted its 21st Annual Christmas at the Barn fundraiser at Eden Farms in Marietta, SC. The event, which has become a beloved tradition in the community, drew families and friends together for an afternoon filled with holiday cheer—all in support of a remarkable cause.

Attendees were welcomed to a festive atmosphere where the barn came alive with holiday magic. "Reindeer" horse and pony rides, featuring therapy horses dressed for the season, delighted children and adults alike. Santa and Mrs. Claus were on hand for photos and to spread Christmas cheer, while a live nativity scene, narrated with the story of the first Christmas, provided a heartfelt reminder of the season’s true meaning. Zacchaeus, a miniature donkey and favorite among visitors, made a special appearance in the nativity scene.

Families enjoyed hands-on Christmas arts and crafts, shopped at the horsy gift shop, and savored delicious baked goods and lunch offerings. Younger guests couldn’t resist the Candy Cane Garden and the "Peeplechase" playground. Everywhere you looked, there were smiles, laughter, and the joyful sounds of Christmas music.

Volunteers played an integral role in the event’s success. From decorating the barn to leading “reindeer” rides, organizing craft stations, and baking treats, their dedication was evident in every detail. Their hard work helps ensure that Happy Hooves can continue offering equine therapy programs to children and adults with physical, mental, and emotional challenges—many of whom participate at no cost thanks to these fundraising efforts.

Proceeds from the event will directly benefit Happy Hooves, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that harnesses the healing power of horses to make a difference in the lives of individuals in need. Whether it’s through therapeutic riding sessions or other equine-assisted activities, the organization’s mission is to bring hope and healing to its participants.

For those who missed out this year, mark your calendars for next December. Christmas at the Barn is an annual event that brings joy to the community while supporting a cause that transforms lives.
