A Family Alaska Cruise
Victoria, British Columbia
Describing our Alaska cruise would be: Beautiful scenery, great food, great drinks, lots of relaxation, and tons of family time!
We set sail on the Norwegian Bliss for a seven night cruise from Seattle, WA.
The ports we visited in Alaska were Sitka, Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier, Juneau, Icy Straight Point, and Ketchikan. We also had a stop in Victoria, British Columbia. We didn't get to see any bears, but we did see bald eagles, some whales, lots of fish, deer, and some sea lions.
- In Sitka we spent our time looking at the beautiful scenery and shopping.
- For the Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier, we cruised through and saw snow capped mountains, and mini icebergs floating by.
- Our favorite stop was in Juneau where we rented a jeep and had a chance to do sightseeing on our own away from the touristy stuff. We spent a lot of time gazing at the Mendenhall Glacier and in Auke Bay and Lake where we saw bald eagles, salmon runs, and stunning landscapes.
- We rode the gondola in Icy Straight Point which goes up to 1,800 ft in elevation from the cruise dock. The views were so beyond what any photo can capture, we also got to enjoy some delicious king crab fresh out of the ocean.
- In Ketchikan Scott and Tyler went salmon fishing. It was catch-and-release and they caught about 15 salmon of all sizes.
- Ethan and I enjoyed exploring Victoria, British Columbia and spent some time in a cute tiki bar where the staff were super friendly. (Drinking age 18 in Canada!) Victoria is a city that lights up at night and somewhere I will definitely go back for a longer stay.
- In Seattle we walked the city streets and hung out in Pike Place Market. A highlight was going to the Starbucks Reserve Roastery where they process the beans and make the coffee.
Thank you to my sister and travel agent, Doreen Gadow, for once again booking us an amazing trip!
