Aurora Ice Museum, Alaska

While in Alaska with 10 of our traveling Alaska caravan group, we toured the Aurora Ice Museum by Chena Hot Springs.

The Aurora Ice Museum is the world’s largest year-round ice environment, open 365 days a year.  The museum was created in January 2005 from ice and snow harvested from the resort property. It has over 1,000 tons of ice and snow that stays at a cool 25 degrees Fahrenheit inside. They keep it cool with the world’s first-of-its-kind absorption chiller. They offer daily tours at various times. You get a parka before entering the museum to keep you warm. For an additional cost, you can get an Appletini served in a glass made of ice at an amazing ice bar, sitting on ice stools.

We all headed outside to finish our drinks and then threw the ice glasses on the ground, which is supposed to bring good luck.

Cheers!
