The Yoders
Nestled in the heart of our warm and welcoming neighborhood are Steven and Pamela Yoder. With roots extending deep into grape-growing and winemaking, the Yoders exemplify hard work, passion, and a zest for life. Alongside their faithful dog, Gertie Sue, the Yoders have made an indelible mark on our community since they moved here in April of this year.
Rewinding the clock, we find the Yoders originally hailing from central Ohio. In 1982, they decided to embark on a new adventure, leaving behind the crowded family farm to carve out a life in the countryside, roughly 30 miles northwest of Dalhart. It was there that they settled into their dual roles as grape growers and winemakers, passionately nurturing their vineyard and crafting wines that tell a story with every sip.
Their journey together took a joyous turn when their son Zac was born in Dalhart. Fast forward to today, Zac is happily married and a proud father of two sons. Zac, it seems, inherited not just his parents' hard work ethic, but also their love for tradition and community—a love dutifully passed down through generations.
The Yoders aren't just known for their exceptional wines; they're also avid lovers of the great outdoors. Their weekends often involve exciting camping trips and tranquil kayaking adventures. There's something about the harmony of nature that speaks to their souls, allowing them to unwind and recharge away from the hustle and bustle of their daily responsibilities.
Among the cherished traditions that bind the Yoders together, their iconic pizza night reigns supreme. Each family member gets to design their own pizza masterpiece, which Steven, affectionately nicknamed "The Mustache," expertly bakes in either their outdoor or indoor pizza oven. It's a tradition that brings laughter, creativity, and mouth-watering aromas to their home, embodying their love for both culinary delights and family togetherness.
When they're not immersed in nature or concocting unique pizzas, the Yoders love to explore the world around them. Their favorite vacation destination is OBX (Outer Banks), a place that never fails to rejuvenate their spirits with its serene beaches and captivating scenery. Closer to home, they enjoy dining at Sa•Vor, their preferred restaurant, where they can relax and savor exquisite dishes.
The Yoders also have their collective hearts devoted to sports, cheering passionately for the Dallas Cowboys and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Whether it's the thrilling excitement of a football game or the camaraderie built around their favorite teams, sports undoubtedly bring another layer of joy to their lives.
When it comes to entertainment, the Yoders appreciate the finer nuances of art and history. They are avid viewers of history movies and documentaries, finding deep resonance in stories of the past. Their musical tastes span across genres, favoring the timeless melodies of the '70s and the serene, sophisticated chords of classical music.
In our vibrant community, the Yoders stand as pillars of tradition, joy, and dedication. Their journey from central Ohio to becoming integral members of our neighborhood is a testament to their resilience and commitment. With their lush vineyards, weekend escapades, and rich family traditions, Steven, Pamela, and their lovable Gertie Sue have truly enriched our lives.
So, raise a glass to the Yoder family, and may their story inspire us all to cherish the simple, beautiful moments that make life in our neighborhood so special. Cheers!
