Hi, we are the Kochanowski-Mooney family! My name is Matt Kochanowski and I am married to my wife, Alex Mooney. We have an amazing 1-year-old daughter, Maple, and our two bulldogs, Abbot and Agatha.

 

We recently moved to the Hill Section of Manhattan Beach in August 2021 after selling our home in North Redondo. We have lived in LA since February 2015.

 

We are excited to be part of the Hill Section community and look forward to being more involved as our daughter begins school. Some of our favorite local spots include Hi-Fi in Becker’s for coffee, Valley Park in Hermosa, and the Strand for walks. We also love grabbing dinner at Fishing with Dynamite and weekend breakfast at Martha’s.

 

I am originally from Chicago, Missouri and Alex hails from Saint Louis, Missouri. We met in college at Dominican University in River Forest, IL, where we both were members of the university soccer team. Later I continued my education by pursuing my MBA at USC. Fight On!

 

We have been together for 12 years and married for 3 ½ years. In September 2019, we got married in Malibu and began our new life together. Coming from the cold winters of Chicago, nothing beats a neighborhood where you can see the ocean in one direction and the Hollywood sign in the other.

 

I (Alex) grew up with the TV show Friends and wanted to be a buyer at Ralph Lauren just like Rachel Green. My passion for fashion led me to study Fashion Marketing in college and intern at Michael Kors Corporate in NYC, quickly realizing that getting paid in purses and apparel won’t make rent.  I found my way back to Chicago and received a job offer from Groupon at their height. It was here I developed my love for working in Tech, which led me to having careers at RetailMeNot, and Honey (acquired by PayPal) and now I lead a CPG & Retail Team for TikTok.

 

As for me (Matt), I am a Product Marketing Manager at Square and the handyman of our household (nicknamed Mr. Fix It). I (also) love working in Big Tech and enjoy the challenge of making things work.  After finishing my MBA, I worked at META and started a position at Square last fall.

 

We love working for companies that a large portion of the population utilizes on a daily basis. Whether you’re using Square at the checkout at your favorite boutique or coffee shop or learning new make-up tricks on TikTok, we love influencing and being part of companies that people rely on.

 

Together, we are involved in Roadogs, an LA dog rescue that specializes in rehabilitating and rescuing bulldog breeds. Our Agatha is a rescue pup from Roadogs, and we are proud to support such a fantastic organization.

 

 

Our daughter, Maple, is currently attending Beach Babies, and she loves swimming at South Bay Aquatics. We are excited to see her grow and explore new hobbies and interests as she gets older. We’re hoping she will be a soccer star like her dad someday!

 

 

As a family, we enjoy going for walks around the neighborhood with our pets. Our walks are very slow, especially since Agatha isn’t one for speed. We still walk twice a day as a family.

Agatha is a slow walker, so sometimes after our walk to Gelson’s, we entice her to pick up the pace with a rotisserie chicken. It’s a sight!

 

Other pastimes include hanging out in our backyard with the pups and Maple. On a night out, we like escaping to Venice for dinner or trying a new restaurant somewhere outside of South Bay. If we’re staying local, you can find us at Slice N Pint in El Segundo. Being from Chicago, I (Matt) love pizza!

 

To relax, we enjoy playing tennis, doing Pilates, running, and watching television. Our favorite TV shows are Succession and Ted Lasso, and I am a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan (yes, I’m from Chicago and it's weird). If you love margaritas, you're a friend of Alex's, and if you're a Packers fan, you're a friend of mine!

 

We also love to vacation. Cabo is our favorite vacation destination for fun in the sun.
