Meet Your Neighbors
The Fun and Funny Canales Family!
Awww, how sweet!
Can you introduce your family and share a bit about them, including names and ages?
My wife, Jennifer, and I have 3 children, Ethan (23), Ady (16), and our little surprise Conner (2). We enjoy outdoor activities, spending time together, and being involved with our church and community; attending City Life Church, Kiwanis, Rotary, and the Elk's Lodge.
How long have you lived in the neighborhood? Where are you and your family originally from, and what brought you here?
We just recently built our forever home in Fairplay Estates, moving from Arlington Park. The idea was to have just a little more grass to mow :). I moved to Hot Springs about 7 years ago from Texarkana and Jennifer grew up here, graduating from Lakeside. I made my way here with an opportunity for joining our investment firm, Edward Jones.
What college/university did you attend?
I'm actually finishing my undergrad degree in finance at Purdue Global University while also completing my Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. Jennifer received her MBA from Purdue Global University and her marketing undergrad degree at Henderson State University.
How did you and your spouse meet?
We met each other as neighbors and like two strong magnets, we became inseparable quickly. Our love for one another was stronger than either of our stubbornness, which anyone who knows us, is a lot! And knowing that we were not getting any younger, we wanted to maximize our remaining time together. So we decided to get married.
What's your profession(s), and where do you work?
I'm a financial advisor with Edward Jones for almost 7 years, with over 2 and half decades of experience in finance, insurance, and business management. Jennifer is a professor at Champion Christian College, teaching Financial Management, Economics, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship.
Tell us about your kids.
Our kids love the Lord and are involved with as many church activities as possible. Ethan owns an automotive detail business in Texas and Ady has learned to become an entrepreneur herself, crafting jewelry that she sells. Ady is a cheerleader at Gospel Light and looks forward to attending OBU. And Conner is just the boss baby.
Do you have any pets?
Our fur children are Teddy the puppy, Izzy the dog, and Stormy the cat. Again, they are told what to do by boss baby.
Can you highlight any unique talents or interests that each family member brings to the mix?
Brian: Loves to save money, with an acceptation for Golf Jennifer: Loves to hike and go out to eat Ethan: Loves cars and making them go faster Ady: Loves to sing and spend quality time together Conner: Loves to run, scream, and play in the dirt.
How do you celebrate holidays or special occasions as a family?
We usually spend money, go out to eat, and spend quality time together.
What are your favorite places to visit around the community?
We love to bike at Cedarglades and Northwoods, hike everywhere, visit Garvin Gardens, and visit most of the restaurants.
Do you participate in any social activities or events in the neighborhood?
Not yet, but plan to and may even start something up!
Do you work with any charity organizations?
Again, we are very involved within the community. As active members of our City Life Church, The Greater Hot Springs Kiwanis Club, The HSNP Rotary Club, The Elk's Lodge, the Chamber, and the schools,we stay pretty busy.
What's your favorite part of living in the neighborhood?
Everyone seems to be very nice and welcoming! We are looking forward to getting to know all of our neighbors better.
