Charity Poker Night Raises Nearly $8,000 for LAFD Foundation

Hosted by Koru Risk Management

Following the catastrophic wildfires that ravaged LA County earlier this year, Newport Beach-based insurance firm Koru Risk Management took an “all-in” approach to giving back.

The Koru team came together to organize and host a special charity poker night at Muldoon’s Irish Pub in Newport Beach on Saturday, February 1st. More than four dozen clients and partners from 17 different companies attended, many of whom are owned or operated by residents of the Port Streets neighborhood. SoCal-based real estate private equity firm Arrimus Capital also made a generous donation to support the fundraising efforts. Additional attendees included representatives from PSG, Stanton Road Capital, Serendipity, Ospi, Scout There, and Western Pacific Construction. Muldoon’s Irish Pub graciously sponsored the food for the event.
Throughout the evening, Koru matched all contributions, donating 100% of the proceeds to the LAFD Foundation's Emergency Wildfire Fund. In just a few short hours, nearly $8,000 was raised to support this vital cause.

“When we go ‘all-in’ for a good cause, everyone wins,” said Rob Greer, Vice President of Business Development at Koru. “We were deeply moved to see such a strong turnout at our charity poker night. The mission for the evening was to raise funds for the LAFD Foundation, and it was evident that everyone recognized the significance. We’re grateful for the opportunity to come together and give back to such a meaningful organization.”

The LAFD Foundation is the official nonprofit arm of the Los Angeles City Fire Department. Established in 2010, the foundation focuses on funding lifesaving programs and equipment for communities throughout Los Angeles. To learn more, visit SupportLAFD.org.
