Bailey

Is there a story behind Bailey’s name?
I adopted her from a rescue when she was 6 days old. Her litter was all named after UT football players in 2011, so her foster name was Jordan Shipley. I had her for 4 days and was trying to come up with a name that fit her; I tried several names, and none fit. So I was lying on the sofa 4 days after her adoption, and she was lying on me while I was watching Grey’s Anatomy, and Dr. Bailey came on. I thought, “Wow, Bailey is a great name!” I said it out loud, and she looked up at me. And bam, that was her name.
Share a few details about your pet.
She is a mutt adopted from Austin Pets Alive. Per the vet, she is most likely a Jack Russel/Blue Heeler mix.
Does she have any special talents or quirks?
She is full of personality and loves to play with tennis balls, 2 or 3 at a time. Once you start petting her, she won’t let you stop because if you do, she will swat your hand with her paw until you start again. Oh, and she loves popcorn!
How did they come to join your family?
I had just lost my 16-year-old chihuahua and swore I wouldn’t adopt another dog for at least 6 months. And dang it, Facebook, if the cutest face wasn’t staring at me only 2 weeks later. I immediately fell in love and filled out an application to adopt.
Do they have any other pet friends in the neighborhood?
She gained a stepbrother and sister when my husband and I got together. Unfortunately, they are both at the Rainbow Bridge now. As for others, she can be a bit aggressive on a leash, so sadly, she hasn’t found many close furry friends.
On a scale of 1-10, how spoiled is Bailey?
Easily 15. She rules the roost in our house.
