Emerald Bay Retirement Community
A Personalized Approach to Creating a Unique Environment
Walking through the entrance of Emerald Bay Retirement Community, you can sense that something is very different, you might say unexpected. It feels as if you’ve entered someone’s well-appointed Great Room, albeit in a huge home. That is exactly what the management company, BAKA Enterprises, Inc., had envisioned.
With years of experience in long-term health care, Katherine Tegen and Barbara Bittner launched “BAKA” being a shorthand combination of “Barbara” and “Katherine”. They approached senior living as an opportunity to establish a unique environment for residents. They also sought to create training and educational opportunities for their team of professionals and staff. As leaders in the industry, they are planning to expand that learning to others in the field through an online training program focused on their methods of care.
Emerald Bay offers a personalized approach when meeting the individualized care needs of their residents. Caregivers are available 24/7 to assist with a variety of care services, such as medication management, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation and more. In addition, Emerald Bay has an onsite therapy gym where residents can receive physical, occupational and speech therapy – assisting with their overall health and independence.
“Cultivating independence gives residents a strong sense of self-worth and promotes longevity,” explains Michael Fredrickson, vice president of business development
Their approach to care distinguishes the team at Emerald Bay. The residents live in spacious apartments but are also encouraged to meet new people and socialize throughout the community. Their activity directors invite residents participate in daily activities, such as playing bingo, enjoying a cocktail hour, group outings, walking and exercise, or taking a cooking class led by their own chef.
Are you tired of maintaining the upkeep of your home/apartment, or are you lonely and would benefit from socializing with others on a daily basis? If you answered yes, then you may want to consider making a move to Emerald Bay sooner than later. With their new independent living option, residents may move into Emerald Bay with no care needs and enjoy all the amenities included on the campus. Resident’s may move in, age in place, and enjoy the ease of living right here in Hobart.
