Meet the Gecovichs

From Cleveland, to Paris, to Thornbury with Love

Our Family

We are the Gecovich family. My name is Nora and I have been married to my husband, Avi for 24 years.

Our daughter, Brooke, is a rising senior at The University of Tampa. She is in the Nursing Program. She enjoys living in the exciting city of Tampa and taking advantage of the beautiful weather. Our son, Kyle, will start Kent State University this Fall. He is a budding entrepreneur. He owns and operates a business renovating enclosed, equipment and landscaping trailers of all types and sizes. He recently received the Ernst and Young Youth Scholarship Award for Entrepreneurship. The Junior Achievement of Greater Cleveland recommended him for this Entrepreneur Of The Year 2024 Award. Kyle plans to study Business at KSU.

We have been living in the Thornbury Development for 18 years to date, and are residents in the city of Solon for 25 years. Solon has been a wonderful community for us to raise our family. The Thornbury neighborhood is peaceful, private and our neighbors are great people.

How we met and Family traveling

My husband and I met in downtown Cleveland when we were both out on the same night with our own friends. We met up, started talking and eventually started dating. The rest is history!

Avi decided to take me to Paris to get to know me better. That was a wonderful vacation and we had a great time together. What an experience we had! I purchased a frame in the magical city of Paris and placed our very first travel picture in it as a first trip memory. This has turned into a tradition that we have kept for every destination we have taken since then. We make sure to purchase a frame on every adventure we take - we then place a printed picture in the new frame to remind us of another priceless time spent together and we add it to our list!

We have a large picture frame table in our home where we have collected a unique frame from every place we have visited as a married couple and also as a family. It has taken 25 plus years to build this table of family cherished times together. This is my favorite part of our home.

Our family has a love for travel. My husband and I have taken our children for special occasions and holiday breaks throughout the United States and to other countries as well.
Our goal is to show the kids some exciting and iconic destinations and to give them various educational opportunities while they are on school breaks.

They always come back a little wiser than when they left, and we created everlasting memories as a family on our journeys. Each place we went to left an impression on all of us.

Careers, Nora's small Solon business

My husband, Avi, has been a Midas International franchise owner for 29 years. I am the Solon small business owner of Captured Keepsakes by Nora.

Being creative is what fuels me and gives me great pleasure. I worked at American Greetings in Cleveland for over 20 years. I held several positions there including a Professional Graphic Designer and a Prototype Artist.

Four years ago, I began to design unique, one-of-a-kind gift items and apparel. I find this to be creatively fulfilling and rewarding work. With my education, career background in graphic design, and my enjoyment of gift giving, making people feel special and celebrating the good times, it made sense to me to launch this business.

The name Captured Keepsakes derives from the time a special occasion is caught and there is something tangible to hold on to from that moment in time.

This has now turned into a full-time job. I work from our Thornbury Development home. I become absorbed in what I do. It is always challenging and each gift is different. Some of my most recent orders have been for Graduation, Family Trips, and Milestone Birthday occasions. The baby gift sets are my favorite orders. People get so excited when they see the final pieces and they can’t wait to give the gift to someone special.

I enjoy connecting with neighbors and working with the Solon community, and working one-on-one with my customers. Each request is different, and I will do whatever I can to accommodate the vision of a gift that one is looking for that they have set in their mind.

I collaborate with my customers every step of the way and I let them guide me. I also have a quick turn around time and offer local delivery in Solon. I ship as well.

I love to hear how pleased my customers are with my work, or how grateful they are when they receive their finished product. There is a sign on my office door that reads "My Happy Place”.

I will take part in the Signature of Solon Holiday Boutique event again in November.
