Apex Exteriors, located in South Elgin since 2008, has established itself as a trusted leader in roofing and exterior services throughout Chicagoland and southern Wisconsin. Led by founder Ken Girard, the company combines decades of experience, a commitment to quality craftsmanship, and mission to provide long-term, high-quality jobs in the Fox Valley.

Ken graduated from Forest View High School in Arlington Heights. During high school, Ken started working for Top Side Roofing gaining invaluable hands-on experience. After earning a finance degree from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, he returned to the roofing business, eventually purchasing half of Top Side Roofing in 1990.

Under Ken’s leadership, the company roofed countless homes in Thornwood and other communities. In 2009, after decades of success, Ken launched Apex Exteriors to focus on serving homeowners.  As Apex grew, Ken expanded and added HOAs, new construction, and commercial properties. Today, the company offers a wide range of services, including roofing, siding, windows, doors, gutters, engineered siding veneers, and emergency repairs. Ken is grateful to be a member of the South Elgin community for nearly 30 years.

Ken built Apex Exteriors with a commitment to excellence and customer trust. While many companies rely heavily on subcontractors, Ken chose to train his own team of employees to ensure superior craftsmanship. “Do it once and do it right” is a guiding philosophy at Apex, and clients frequently call on them to correct substandard work done by others.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Apex Exteriors quickly adapted. Declared an essential business, the company implemented rigorous sanitation protocols to protect workers and homeowners. These practices have become part of their standard operations, reflecting their commitment to safety and customer care.

Ken’s love for Chicagoland extends beyond work. A devoted fan of the Chicago Bears, he also cheers on both the White Sox and Cubs. He’s passionate about Italian food, often enjoying chicken parmesan and Chicago classics from Lou Malnati’s and Giordano’s. In his free time, Ken loves fishing and has an exciting trip to Alaska planned for July.
