Building a Legacy of Trust and Excellence: Gloria Services and Marcia Gloria Staging and Redesign

With decades of experience, Marcia’s commitment to her team, her community, and her passion for design have turned her businesses into trusted local staples, serving Thornwood and beyond.

Marcia, the heart behind Gloria Services, has built an impressive business over the years. With 21 employees, 80% of whom have been with the company for over a decade, it’s clear that Marcia’s commitment to her team and her business is unwavering. She personally trains each employee, instilling in them her philosophy: “We are adults. You represent the business. I trust you with this work.” Her trust and leadership have cultivated a culture of reliability and professionalism. Gloria Services also boasts a fleet of 11 company cars, demonstrating its growth and success.

In addition to her cleaning business, Marcia’s passion for design led her to launch Marcia Staging and Redesign in 2018. Marcia runs the staging business, along with her husband Chris, with the same dedication and attention to detail that she brings to her cleaning company.

Marcia and Chris have lived in Thornwood for seven years, raising three children who have pursued impressive paths. Their son, Douglas Nunes, is a professional French horn musician at Bard College’s The Orchestra Now program. Their daughter, Ana Clara, is an Evans Scholar at the University of Illinois Chicago. Their youngest, Isabela, is a sophomore at St. Charles North High School and a dedicated swimmer on the swim team.

Marcia’s journey to entrepreneurship has been anything but ordinary. After moving to the U.S. in 1991, Marcia learned how to clean houses and started cleaning them by herself. After six months, she had more referrals than she could handle and hired her first employee. Always driven to learn, Marcia also decided to attend cosmetology school, became a licensed professional in the state of New Jersey. When Marcia moved back to Brazil in 1996, she began working at a salon and even ventured into the bridal industry. In 1998 Marcia opened her Travel Agency in Brazil. Over the course of nine years and after several successful business ventures in Brazil, Marcia returned to the U.S. in 2005 to purchase her sister’s cleaning business. She rebranded the business in 2013 as Gloria Services.

Marcia is deeply rooted in her community and regularly gives back, donating food to her employees for Thanksgiving, helping with home projects, and supporting school initiatives. She remains actively involved in local networking events and takes pride in her contributions to Stroll Thornwood.

When reflecting on her journey, Marcia doesn’t point to one moment of accomplishment but expresses gratitude for the entire experience. Her wisdom is simple but profound: “Treat people with respect. Work hard, and things will get better. Be yourself, and don’t regret your decisions to better yourself.”

Marcia embodies perseverance and generosity, and her legacy within Thornwood and beyond continues to grow.
