CELEBRATING 40 YEARS IN THE COMMUNITY
Faithful to the Mission

In 1984, six couples from St. Charles gathered with a shared dream: to create a church that would introduce their unchurched neighbors to Jesus Christ. That humble Bible study group, guided by faith and a vision for community, grew into Christ Community Church, which now celebrates 40 years of ministry and impact. From its modest beginnings in a St. Charles Mall movie theater, the church has become a beacon of hope with vibrant campuses in St. Charles/South Elgin, Aurora, DeKalb, Streamwood, and Huntley.
Under the leadership of founding pastor Jim Nicodem, Christ Community Church quickly outgrew its early spaces. The congregation’s unwavering generosity and sacrificial giving allowed the church to establish its permanent home on Randall Road. From a 500-seat chapel in 1991 to today’s state-of-the-art, 1,500-seat auditorium, the St. Charles campus has continually expanded to welcome all seeking a relationship with Jesus.
Over the decades, Christ Community Church has remained steadfast in its mission to make passionate disciples who belong, grow, serve, and reach. Through Community Groups, recovery and support programs, and opportunities for all ages, the church strives to meet people wherever they are on their faith journey. Its Bible Savvy podcast further equips individuals with tools for meaningful engagement with Scripture.
Faithfulness to its core values—Bible reading, prayer, and actionable discipleship—has propelled Christ Community Church beyond its walls. Partnering with local ministries focused on pro-life initiatives, vulnerable children, domestic ministry, and under-resourced communities, the church emphasizes serving others as a vital expression of faith.
This commitment extends to reaching area communities. Beginning with the DeKalb Campus, Christ Community began a multisite model that led to campuses in Aurora, Streamwood, and Huntley. The last three being adoptions of struggling churches that have been revitalized.
With a new two-year financial campaign, the church plans to adopt two additional churches, ensuring communities continue to have places to encounter Jesus.
As Christ Community Church reflects on 40 years of God’s faithfulness, it also looks forward with anticipation. The church remains dedicated to transforming lives and fulfilling its mission to share the Good News.
