Mike Fox: Crafting Homes, Building Relationships, and Giving Back
Recent mudroom project completed by Mike Fox.
Mike Fox, the heart and soul behind M Fox Carpentry & Remodeling, embodies a lifetime of dedication to craftsmanship and community. Raised in Maple Park, IL, Mike spent summers working on farms with his aunts, uncles, and cousins, a formative experience that instilled a strong work ethic. A graduate of Kaneland High School, he eventually settled in St. Charles with his wife, Maureen. Together, they homeschooled their two sons, Josh and Noah, while embracing an active family life on soccer fields and basketball courts. For over 30 years, the Fox family has been deeply involved in ministries and community service, reflecting their enduring commitment to making a difference.
With over 40 years of experience, Mike’s expertise in carpentry spans nearly every aspect of homebuilding. Beginning with framing and deck-building, he honed his skills in trim work, custom stair building, and cabinet making. Today, his business specializes in kitchen, bathroom, and basement remodels, as well as custom cabinetry, staircases, trim work, and decks.
What makes Mike stand out is his client-centered approach. He sees every project as an opportunity to form lasting relationships, turning strangers into friends. Known for tackling challenges other contractors deem impossible, Mike takes pride in finding innovative solutions to bring his clients’ visions to life. Mike shares that "when others say no, I almost always find a way to say yes.” One of his clients remarked that Mike is a “very skilled and meticulous craftsman and he works with some of the best tradesmen in the area for tasks outside his scope of expertise. He is very upfront and honest and ensures you get exactly what you want from your projects.”
This personalized approach and his exceptional craftsmanship have earned Mike glowing client reviews. From seamless basement remodels to intricate kitchen transformations, his clients praise his honesty, meticulous work, and commitment to staying on time and within budget. Mike is also known for focusing on one project at a time, ensuring every client gets his full attention. During a basement renovation, his client expressed that “Mike provided excellent suggestions based on his years of experience. He provided quality work and doesn’t allow anyone who works for him to cut corners.”
Beyond his business, Mike and Maureen use their talents to serve their community. They regularly contribute to building projects for The Ruth Project Farm, which supports foster families. Additionally, Mike runs "Grandpa’s Workshop" at The Farm, where he teaches foster children basic woodworking skills, restoring their confidence and dignity, and giving them some basic woodworking skills.
Post-COVID, the Foxes launched the Water Wins Century Ride, an annual cycling fundraiser supporting clean water initiatives in Nigeria. Over the last four years, they’ve funded 40 wells, transforming entire communities with a basic need…Water. An avid cyclist himself, Mike rides over 100 miles weekly, blending his passion for cycling with his philanthropic goals.
Mike and Maureen are also beekeepers, with hives located on their property in St. Charles. They sell local honey out of their home, using this as a unique and delicious gift to offer to friends, colleagues and strangers. The Foxes are very active at their local church in Aurora, assisting the Church with building projects as they arise. They both look for ways to serve the Lord at their church, in their community, and through their business.
For your next home project, Mike invites you to dream big and trust his expertise. Whether you’re envisioning a modern kitchen, a cozy basement retreat, or a custom staircase, M Fox Carpentry & Remodeling delivers results that exceed expectations.
