Mark Gundersen and his wife, Rachel, first crossed paths at Western Illinois University. Since 2003, they’ve embraced life in the Fox Valley area and made Thornwood their home in the summer of 2015. Together, they’re raising a freshman, an 8th grader, and a 5th grader, enjoying the unique journey of parenthood. While Mark’s coaching days are behind him, he now supports his children as they grow as athletes and individuals, cheering them on from the sidelines. When he’s not attending their games, Mark loves spending time with family at Castle Rock Lake in Wisconsin, going to concerts and sporting events, and gathering with friends and loved ones. He also enjoys smoking meat and cooking on his Blackstone. He pretty much uses it for anything. He savors the idea of serving a smoked brisket to his neighbors and friends or making breakfast for the kids and their friends.
