Meet Tyler Thompson
A Young Lacrosse Star with Big Dreams
Tyler Thompson, an 11-year-old lacrosse player, is finishing fifth grade and has lived in Thornwood his entire life. He loves the close-knit community where everything is within walking distance, including his friends’ houses. The friendly atmosphere of his neighborhood makes it an ideal place for him to grow up and pursue his passions.
Tyler plays lacrosse for Team ONE Lacrosse Club and the Tri-City Rapids Lacrosse team during the spring season. His primary position is defense, but he also excels as a long-stick midfielder (LSM). Lacrosse has been a part of Tyler’s life since he first picked up a stick at the age of three, and he started playing on a team when he was eight. Inspired by his dad, who is also his coach, Tyler has developed a deep love for the sport. His dad is his role model, guiding and encouraging him every step of the way.
One of Tyler’s most cherished memories in lacrosse is when he scored two goals in the first 13 seconds of a game. Moments like these fuel his passion and drive to improve. After school, Tyler is disciplined about completing his homework before heading out to lacrosse practice. This routine reflects his dedication and time management skills, balancing academics with his athletic commitments.
Tyler has learned valuable lessons from lacrosse, including the importance of teamwork and resilience in the face of defeat. He credits his dad for his unwavering support and his U8 coach, Dan, for teaching him essential skills like mastering ground balls.
Looking ahead, Tyler dreams of playing in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) for the Maryland Whipsnakes after college. If he doesn’t make it as a professional player, he hopes to coach lacrosse at any level, sharing his love for the game with others. Additionally, Tyler has a budding interest in becoming an architect.
Tyler’s message to others is simple yet powerful: "If you have a goal, go for it! Keep going until you reach it." With his determination and passion, there’s no doubt that Tyler Thompson will continue to achieve great things both on and off the lacrosse field.
