“We’ve lived here for 24 years,” says Venetian Isles resident Angela Mathias. She is married to her husband John and they live in a slice of paradise. John, who is originally from Maryland, grew up in Tampa. Angela is originally from Miami.

 

“I much prefer the west coast for the boating, beaches and the lifestyle,” she says. They crossed paths in 1989 in downtown Tampa, recently celebrating 32 years of marriage together. John, a personal injury attorney, has a deep passion for his work. His dedication and commitment shine through in his long and successful career.

 

Angela delights in serving the community as a REALTOR® with the Salamone Group, a profession that she has enjoyed for a decade. She is also proud to be the recording secretary on the Executive Board for the Stuart Society, the fundraising guild for the Museum of Fine Arts. She is currently in her fourth year serving the Stuart Society.

 

They are blessed with two children, Brett (29) and Alexa (26). Brett works with MillerCoors in Dallas, and Alexa is currently exploring the world of e-commerce in Barcelona, with the possibility of returning home in January.

 

Angela and John share their home with Maverick, their Newfoundland dog who adds happiness to their household. Maverick came from a breeder in snow-covered Iowa before discovering the Sunshine State. He’s been a Florida dog since 2013 and gets along beautifully with their three cats and a great turtle. It’s a harmonious household.

 

“Our turtle is almost 20 years old,” says Angela. “Our son adopted him when he was 10 and now he’s 30. Maverick is enamored with the turtle and they have a bromance.” It’s a sight to see!

 

When not working, Angela and John love to travel. Recently, they took a trip to a dude ranch in Wyoming, which was a ton of fun. It was an item on Angela’s bucket list and she was thrilled that she got to cross it off. Instead of a typical vacation by the beach, they went out west to enjoy horseback riding, fishing, and hiking in the mountains.
