Alex Macedo, the owner of A.L Pools & Pavers, has built an excellent pool company that can handle all of your pool servicing needs including pool construction and remodeling along with pool maintenance, outdoor kitchens and pergolas.

Macedo, who is from Goiania, Brazil, moved to South Florida from the San Francisco Bay Area in 2013 with his wife, Katie, and his son, Alex, and daughter, Ava. Katie’s mother wanted to retire in South Florida.

Alex was working in the trucking business and had gotten his commercial license. He was building time on his license to get a nice job and started doing pools on the side. He did pool maintenance and had eight clients. He then met a person in the pool business who had a big impact on his life and mentored him.

“I learned a lot from Bob,” Alex says. Bob had a lot of experience in pool construction and taught Alex a lot on the construction side. He also gave jobs to Alex. Alex worked these jobs and continued servicing his clients and building his client base.

In 2020, Alex met Raquel Rocha who was working at MileStone in Pompano Beach. “We started talking and became friends,” Alex says. Raquel decided to come on board with Alex’s company.

Alex says, “She is the brains on the inside. My experience is outside.” So, the two make a great team.

When Raquel came on board, Alex had a little less than 200 clients. They hit 300 clients and now are over 400 clients and growing.

“These clients refer a lot of people. That is a good way to be out there,” Alex says.

The company provides customers with a unique customer experience. It is not a mechanical way to do jobs but is a more personalized and detailed way with what the customer wants and what they need. People love it, and the overall customer experience is great – which is why the company gets so many referrals.

“They feel at home and like they are part of the family,” Alex says.

Alex takes pride in the finished product and in making people happy. “The experience for the client is really important to me. I enjoy providing enjoyment for the people we work with so they can enjoy their space,” Alex says.

When Alex is not running his company, he enjoys going boating at Lighthouse Inlet with his family. “It is our favorite spot. We also like Lake Boca,” Alex says. He also enjoys fishing and biking.

Alex attributes his success to the environment and the way he pursued things (his choices) along with his strong work ethic.

“Experience counts and when a person has referrals like we do, it means a lot. We are a one-stop shop with all that we offer, and we don’t want other people in the backyard except for us,” Alex says.
