What your favorite things about living in the VOWC ?
We enjoy the community, safety and wonderful neighbors. Everyone is so friendly. We also love to walk down to Sahm’s and have dinner or a drink.
Anything else you’d love our community to know about you and your family?
We love living in Carmel and the Village of WestClay is such a special place. We feel lucky to be part of this community.
This recipe was passed down through my husband’s family. I have always known them as “The Christmas Cinnamon Rolls”. Of course we love them so much we make them throughout the year, but they are always a tradition on Christmas morning. My mother-in-law taught me how to make them and I look forward to passing it down to my children as well. We also like to add pecans or walnuts on top before baking, but they aren’t required if you aren’t a fan of nuts. Serve with eggs, coffee and Christmas cheer!
Bread & Sauce
2 loaves of frozen bread dough
1 c. brown sugar
1 stick of butter
1 t. cinnamon
1/3 c. sugar
Milk
Orange glaze
2 T Butter (melted)
1 T grated orange peel
2 T orange juice
1/2 + cups powdered sugar
Directions:
Let frozen bread dough thaw.
Make brown sugar sauce. Melt butter in saucepan, add sugar and cinnamon. Bring to a boil and then add milk until no longer gritty.
Cut 1 loaf of dough into small pieces in a 9 X 13 pan. Pour some sauce over the top. Cut second loaf and add to pan. Pour the rest of the brown sugar sauce over the bread.
Let rise overnight. (May need to leave in a warm place for a bit and then finish rising in the refrigerator.)
The next morning, bake rolls at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
Make orange glaze by melting ingredients together and drizzle over the top of baked rolls.
