Olentangy Ski and Board Club
Building a Ski Community

The Olentangy Ski and Board Club invites students in grades 6 through 12 from the district’s middle and area high schools to participate in its annual program. The club begins each season with a parent meeting at the end of September, with sign-ups open the month of November.
Students travel by Cardinal charter buses from their schools to Snow Trails in Mansfield, Ohio, for six consecutive weeks. This unique setup allows students from all Olentangy schools to come together on the same night, fostering interaction and camaraderie. Chaperones and advisors enjoy the experience as much, contributing to a supportive and close-knit community.
The program emphasizes responsibility and independence. Students have some freedom at the resort while knowing where to find their advisors if needed. Punctuality is a key focus, and students learn the importance of staying on schedule. Lessons are required for those new to skiing or snowboarding to ensure safety and confidence on the slopes.
The club welcomes around 300 students each year, many of whom begin in 6th grade and continue participating through their senior year. Over time, these students form lasting relationships, creating a family-like atmosphere within the club.
The Ski and Board Club also offers an optional high school-only trip to New York. This trip has become a rite of passage, with many high schoolers participating for all four years, further strengthening the sense of community.
Chaperones are essential to the club’s success, and some have served for over twenty years. Their commitment helps ensure a safe and rewarding experience for every participant.
While skiing and snowboarding can be expensive, the club offers students memories, friendships, and life lessons that make the investment worthwhile. The Olentangy Ski and Board Club looks forward to another exciting season of fun and growth.
