Meet Tweed Hasler!

A warm welcome to the neighborhood to Karen and Ed Hasler and their dog, Tweed! The Haslers are new to Southside Village and excited to meet their neighbors. Ed and Karen are both retirees. Ed is a former fighter pilot with the Air National Guard and worked in the automotive industry. Karen was an elementary school teacher and event coordinator. Their two children live in California, but they are filled with love and affection by their Cairn Terrier, Tweed.

The family loves to go on walks with Tweed, snuggle around the television, and even allow him to steal a shoe occasionally.  The Haslers describe Tweed as a sweet dog with a feisty personality. Tweed is the Hasler’s second Cairn Terrier. There are many reasons why they chose to home another dog of the same breed after their first Cairn Terrier passed.

They are intelligent, loyal, energetic, curious, hardy, alert, animated, and, most of all, loyal. They are small but mighty. Cairn Terriers are also honored to be recognized as Scotland’s first working dog.

If you encounter Tweed in the street, he may give your dog a bark, but that is a mere indication that he wants to play. Cairn Terriers aren’t just workers; they are also playful and cheerful. His constant playfulness with humans and other dogs is why the Haslers refer to Tweed as their ten-year-old “puppy.”

Tweed is a unique dog that enjoys many traditional and non-traditional dog treats, such as popcorn, carrots, and even broccoli! His exceptional talent is that he can smile! Now we know that’s one happy dog.

The Hasler’s favorite thing about Stroll magazine is the opportunity to meet their neighbors. As they are new, we hope this is an opportunity for our community to embrace them and Tweed as part of the neighborhood. Welcome home!
