Oakley Lamprecht: A Hero at Home and in the Field

This Search-and-Rescue Dog Balances Serious Work with Family Fun

Meet Oakley, the Lamprecht family’s four-year-old German Shepherd—part search-and-rescue pro, part playful family dog. Jamie and Emily Lamprecht, along with their daughters Addison (11) and Avery (8), have lived in Wild Horse Creek Forest for 10 years, and Oakley has been a big part of their adventures.

Oakley isn’t just any pet—she’s a nationally certified Search and Rescue Dog, trained in air scent and cadaver detection. She and her handler/dad, Jamie, are part of Tri-SAR Search and Rescue, working with law enforcement to find missing people. It’s serious work, and Oakley is good at it. She’s already been on multiple missions and has helped bring people home. Her name comes from Annie Oakley, and she came from a western-themed litter at Crooked Creek Ranch in Marble Hill, MO. She’s also carrying on a family legacy—her aunt, Cleo, was the Lamprechts’ first search-and-rescue dog.

But when she’s off duty, Oakley is all about family time. She loves playing fetch and hide-and-seek with Addison and Avery and has even helped raise service dogs for Duo Dogs. The family volunteers as puppy raisers, training black Labs before they go on to help others.

The Lamprecht's believe life is too quiet without pets. They hold a special place in their hearts and are truly part of their family. Through volunteering with Duo Dogs, they have learned about the importance of giving back and helping others. Of course it is hard to give the Duo Dog pups back after raising them for a year and a half, but they know that they are going on to make a difference in so many lives!

For the Lamprechts, life wouldn’t be the same without Oakley. She’s hardworking, loyal, and just a little bit spoiled—exactly how they like it!
