Balancing Passion, Perseverance, and Team Spirit on the Softball Field

I'm currently a Senior at Plano West Senior High School. Growing up I played a number of sports however softball was the one that stuck with me most. My softball journey began at the age of seven. I later decided to take it to a more competitive level. It consumed my life and I spend countless hours practicing and preparing. As much as I enjoy the action of softball, the people are what matter most. The team and being around fantastic people, made softball a large part of my life. I made connections with people that will last a lifetime and I am grateful for this. I will always remember the cheering of my teammates when we won district and made playoffs.
I don't just participate in sports however I also love to do charity work. I am a part of a local National Charity League chapter. I have completed 150+ hours of community service. I love to give back to my communtiy. Local organizations like Feed My Starving Children and Bedstart are just a few of many places I enjoy voluteering and connecting with my community.
My favorite memories have stemmed from softball. I will never forget the cheering and support of my teammates when a play was made or the drive all of us had to win and do our best. When we made playoffs last year and made it 4 rounds deep into playoffs I remember the energy and environment. It was so hype and full of energy and I remember being so happy and joyful. I also have made many memories off the field. Spending time with close friends and going out on weekends were important to maintaining balance. I cherish all of my friends off the field and made sure to maintain these relationships. We planned a Super Bowl party this year where we ordered pizza and had a good laugh and these little moments are what I'll always remember.
I admire my parents (Bikram and Jessica Mehta) and their hard work to build a life here. They immigrated from India before I was born and created a life that allowed my brother and I the opportunities to succeed. Their dedication to our family is something that motivates me to work hard and do right by them. I think about their effort and sacrifice, and I want to make them proud.
After high school my plans are to attend the Massachusetts Insitute of Technology. I hope to major in biochemistry and pursue a premed track. When I grow up I want to get my MD and become a practicing physician.
I love to bake in my freetime. With a limited schedule it gets hard to find the time to do this but I love to watch baking shows and other cooking channels!
